A student who goes to school without paper or a pencil is certainly unprepared for learning and too often, students living in-need arrive at school feeling embarrassed, having to ask to borrow these most basic school supplies.
Albert Einstein said, “I never teach my pupils, I only provide them the conditions in which they can learn.” And, for the last 20 years, this is exactly what the Family Giving Tree is delivering through our Back-to-School Drive!
With so many parts of the educational process out of our control, providing school supplies is a very tangible and critical form of educational support we can provide local students. These supplies empower students to succeed, to feel supported by our community, to be like everybody else. When school supplies are received through the Family Giving Tree’s Back-to-School Drive, children can be expected to learn, grow, and give back to the community in a way that is meaningful to them.
Education is truly the best way to break the cycle of poverty. Isn’t that what we all want for the children in our community? To thrive, do better, and then contribute to our world? It all begins with a pencil.
