Thanks to the significant decline in COVID cases and the increasing opening of our communities, we are optimistically looking forward to a “somewhat normal” Back-to-School Drive this summer. As such, we anticipate a greater level of support and participation as people feel more comfortable outside their bubble: shopping for backpacks and school supplies and volunteering in the warehouse. Such increased activity means more and easier processing of donated backpacks and supplies which means helping more students. What we consider to be all very good things.
However, as protecting our volunteers and staff is paramount in all we do, we will be following the mask mandates and guidelines of Santa Clara County. As a result, the 2021 Back-to-School warehouse will be open only to those who are fully vaccinated, which means, at this time, we will not be able to accommodate any child under the age of 12, even if they are masked or volunteering with vaccinated parents/guardians.
While we would love to welcome our young volunteers and help get them started on and grow their philanthropic-inspired journeys, we simply can not.
But, there's good news! Learn more about our new kids’ program so that the kids you know can still be involved in the meaningful work we do to support the large, under-served student community in the Bay Area.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
We wish you all a safe, healthy, and happy summer.
