Become A Recipient Agency or School

 

Family Giving Tree works with a network of over 500 non-profit and school partners to serve more than 100,000 low-income Bay Area children and individuals every year.  

As an organization we do not directly distribute holiday gifts and/or backpacks to those we serve. Instead, Family Giving Tree prepares the requested holiday wishes or school supply needs on behalf of our partner agencies and schools, who then distribute the items to their clients or students.

Each recipient agency and school has reached out to the Family Giving Tree and let us know how we can best support their needs and the mission of their organization. We could not be as effective as we are without our many nonprofit partner agencies and schools.

Application Process

We partner with Bay Area schools and agencies serving children, families, and individuals living in need. Partners must have a current 501(c)3 nonprofit classification or be able to provide us with a Tax ID number. Partner schools must have a student body where a minimum of 80% of students qualify for the free/reduced price lunch program.

Holiday Wish Drive (nonprofit agency partners)

All registration inquiries must be received by July.

To apply to become a recipient agency, please complete the following form. Email a copy of your 501c(3) or your EIN number to agencies@familygivingtree.org.  Once your complete form and Tax ID or 501c(3) information is received we will review your status and determine if you qualify for partnership.  You will receive an email from us within 7 to 10 days explaning our decision, and if approved, you will receive an agency code.  If you do not receive an email within the time frame noted, please contact our agency coordinator at agencies@familygivingtree.org.

Back-to-School Drive (K-12 school partners)

All registration inquiries must be received by March.

Instructions: Please send a copy of your school’s demographic profile, percentage of students receiving free or reduced lunch, and estimated number of backpacks you require to agencies@familygivingtree.org and title the email "Back to School Registration Inquiry." We do not have the availability to provide nonprofits agencies with backpacks, only K-12 schools with 80% or more of students receiving free or reduced lunch.

 

Are you an individual looking for help?

The Family Giving Tree does not distribute backpacks or holiday gift wishes directly to individuals. Everyone we serve is in some way connected to a school or nonprofit and receives our support through that organization.

If you personally need assistance and you don’t have a local school or nonprofit agency near you, we suggest you contact The United Way of Silicon Valley: Call 2-1-1 for information and referral for Santa Clara County. Or, if outside the county, call 866-896-3587.
