Engage Your Teams; Benefit Bay Area Students
Need a great team builder but bored with bowling? Blah for bocce? ‘Meh’ with miniature golf? Family Giving Tree has the team building formula for you. Your corporation or organization already makes charitable contributions that benefit the Bay Area….engage your employees or members at the same time!
Family Giving Tree is the perfect partner for your next team builder. FGT, a 27-year-old Bay Area nonprofit, recently earned its fifth consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. The nonprofit has been hosting its annual Holiday Wish Drive for 27 years, and STEAM-oriented Back-to-School Drive for 22 years. Both efforts provide an ideal environment to engage your employees.
Backpack Build: How It Works
For years, Bay Area companies “in the know” have worked with FGT’s Backpack Build to bring collaboration (and occasionally competition) directly to their office or campus through the form of backpacks and grade-appropriate school supplies. With each Backpack Build, a company is able to provide crucial learning tools to students from low-income families in the Bay Area.
FGT’s Backpack Build program delivers sturdy backpacks and grade-appropriate school supplies directly to your office or campus. FGT works with each group organizer to set the parameters for the event (including duration and number of volunteers) and provides an inventory of supplies based on this information. The FGT Team then trains volunteers and facilitates an ‘assembly line’ to fill backpacks, creating a positive team dynamic focused on communication and trust.
On average, events last one to two hours, with each volunteer assembling 20 – 25 backpacks per hour. Best of all, each backpack goes to a Bay Area student in-need.
Backpack Builds make a great addition to other activities you already have planned, including team lunches, cocktail hours, sales meetings or trainings, or a hosted event, such as customer meetings, users groups, analyst day, etc.
