Everyday Essentials, Extraordinary Impact.

Dental Health Month

Dear Friends,

February may be the shortest month of the year, but it somehow fits a lot in. Valentine’s Day tends to steal the spotlight. President’s Day gives some of us a long weekend. It’s also American Heart Health Month, and National Black History Month. And did you know it’s also National Children’s Dental Health Month? Today even happens to be Tooth Fairy Day!

All of these “days” might seem unrelated, but they share a common thread. They’re reminders to pay attention to the small, important things that help people thrive. These things range from the joy of candy and flowers to taking small vacations on a long weekend, and taking care of your health while being mindful of our unique history and our neighbors.

At Family Giving Tree, our mission is to connect those who can give with those in need. Sometimes that looks like backpacks filled with school supplies. Sometimes, granting an exact holiday wish for a child or adult. And sometimes, it’s something as small and essential as a toothbrush.

Every child and individual who receives a gift or backpack through our programs also receives a toothbrush. We’ve included them in our Holiday Wish Drive for years. Recently, after hearing directly from our partner schools that toothbrushes are deeply appreciated, we added them to our Back-to-School Drive (along with floss and toothpaste).

This is made possible by our community. Some of you donate toothbrushes directly. Others make financial contributions that allow us to purchase them at cost. Because of our supplier relationships, your dollar often goes twice as far, sometimes even three times as far, compared to buying at retail.

I believe that, regardless of economic background, everyone should have access to essentials. Food. Housing. School supplies. Basic health items like toothbrushes. And joy. These are simple things, but they matter. They support confidence, readiness, and dignity.

We are wrapping up our February Dental Campaign and are close to reaching our $5,000 goal. In honor of Children’s Dental Health Month (and Tooth Fairy Day!), please consider making a gift today to help provide these everyday essentials.

Thank you for helping bring more smiles to our community.

See you in March!
