Location: Hybrid Remote, some weekends and evenings
Salary: $118,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience.

Family Giving Tree (FGT), a beloved Bay Area nonprofit, is preparing to celebrate its 35th Holiday Wish Drive - a significant milestone in our mission to serve children and families in under-resourced communities in Silicon Valley. As we approach this landmark anniversary, we seek an accomplished and strategic Director of Development to lead our fundraising efforts and unite donors around this momentous occasion.
This pivotal role will commemorate our 35 years of impact and drive our ambitious 3-year growth strategy, expanding our reach and increasing the number of beneficiaries we serve. The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to leverage this milestone to engage donors, ignite passion for our cause, and set the stage for FGT's future growth.
Position Overview: Reporting to the Interim CEO, the Director of Development will spearhead FGT's individual giving initiatives, focusing on major gifts and preparation for a future capital campaign. You'll be responsible for securing financial resources to sustain and expand our programs, supporting an annual $6.3M budget with plans for significant growth. Central to this role will be your ability to articulate the importance of our 35th Holiday Wish Drive and use this milestone to inspire increased donor engagement and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Fund Development Strategies (25%)
Develop and execute a comprehensive 3-year plan to increase annual revenue from individuals.
Design and implement multi-year strategies to grow the individual donor base
Analyze donor data and giving trends to measure progress and refine strategies
Collaborate with the Leadership Team to foster a culture of philanthropy within FGT (including board, staff, and key volunteers)

Major Gifts and Capital Campaign Preparation (40%)
Manage a portfolio of 50-75 high-value donors and prospects
Cultivate and solicit major gifts ($10,000+)
Partner with the Interim CEO to initiate planning for a future capital campaign
Develop tailored engagement and stewardship strategies for top prospects

Individual Donor Fundraising (25%)
Oversee mid-level donor programs and annual fund appeals
Direct donor database management, gift processing, and stewardship
Collaborate on peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns and events
Team Leadership and Organizational Development (10%)
Manage and mentor a high-performing development team
Engage and educate the Board of Directors in fundraising efforts
Represent FGT at speaking events and key external functions
Stay current on Silicon Valley fundraising trends and best practices

Leadership (10%)
Serve on the Leadership and Executive Team
Participate in setting annual budgets for the organization and the development department
Work with the organization's leadership team to create organizational strategies and inform decision-making
Provide backup support for Back-to-School and Holiday Wish Drive activities during the drive times and represent FGT at community events as needed

Qualifications:
  -7-10 years of professional fundraising experience with progressive leadership responsibilities
  -Proven track record of cultivating and closing major gifts from individuals in Silicon Valley
  -Experience in capital campaign planning and execution
  -Strong relationship-building skills with diverse audiences
  -Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
  -Proficiency in CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and data analysis
  -Bachelor's degree required; CFRE credential a plus

Preferred Skills:
  -Knowledge of Salesforce
  -Familiarity with project management and communication tools such as Asana, Slack, Google Suite, and Office 365
  -Working knowledge of Mix Max, Windfall, and other fundraising tools/platforms

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

Environment:
Approximately 95% of the time performing job duties is spent indoors, within a standard office environment.
Approximately 60% of the time is spent on the computer.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electric shock.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The temperature of the work environment is moderate and ranges from 65 – 80 degrees.
